After attending the World Water Day 2011 event at the Marina Barrage, I was more insightful on water conservation and how the Marina Barrage is useful to the country. As this year's World Water Day was held in conjunction with Inter-Religious Organisation Day, I found it meaningful that we each got a kite with a different symbol representing a religion. I didn't even know some religions existed before I read the handout given.
What I Learnt
According to Mr. Goh Chok Tong's speech, Singapore will have enough water even after it's contract deal with Malaysia expires in 2061. The Marina Barrage acts as flood control to prevent flooding in low-lying areas during high-tides and heavy rains.
