When I looked at the list of things that we had to bring which included an extra pair of shoes, I thought we were going to walk in gruesome mud through piles and piles of rubbish. Instead, we walked a distance on the road then through the forest. Along the way, we took some group photos and made some new friends.
Through the trek into the forest, we all got mosquito bites even though we already had our insect repellent on. Despite that, we weren't dismayed. We trekked all the way in until we reached the other opening of the forest. What greeted us was not a pile of landfill full of rubbish. Instead, it was sand with puddles of water which contained life.
At first we avoided stepping or even touching the water for we feared getting our shoes wet. In the end, our feet and shoes till the calf was wet. Some of us complained. But a while later, we were enjoying the water that was running through our legs. I saw a huge biodiversity of marine life which I never thought I would have seen in real life, right in front of me and even touching them.
What I enjoyed the most were the starfish. I got to see them move and even see what they looked like underneath. They were big and small in size and all of them were camouflaged in the sand. We became weary of where we walked as we didn't want to step on them or even killing them.
Through this trip that required us to wake up early in the morning at 4am, I enjoyed it tremendously and I would have regretted it if I didn't go.
